Catalyst Demonstrates Innovative DMR Dispatch Capabilities

Multifunctional Critical Communications with Propulsion™ Console   APCO Expo, Minneapolis, MNCatalyst Communications Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of Radio Control over IP solutions to the Push-to-Talk (PTT) marketplace, today demonstrated additional new capabilities for Digital Mobile Radio (DMR).

Using its recently introduced Propulsion Console, the company demonstrated advanced voice calling and messaging on a graphics-rich critical communications dispatch console.  The console displays essential signaling like Unit ID and Emergency on the user interface, and dispatchers can select from hundreds of channels, place Individual Calls, and control scan on multiple donor radios.  Telecommunicators can manage field personnel with capabilities like Call Alert, Radio Check, and Radio Disable and can exchange text messages with them – all from an intuitive graphical presentation, and the Propulsion console provides a unified log of voice and text messages.

The Propulsion demonstration at the 75th Annual APCO Expo included advanced control of Project 25, MDC-1200, and Verizon Wireless Push-To-Talk capabilities.  The Propulsion console also provides advanced control of EDACS, SMARTNET®, and other PTT systems.  The console provides interoperability between DMR and these other radios by using intuitive graphical controls, and Catalyst demonstrated that capability.  Propulsion also supports a variety of advanced signaling including Unit ID and channel change for these other systems.  The DMR portion of the demonstration used Harris Momentum radios, and Catalyst is a Harris Momentum Applications Partner.

The innovative text-messaging component provides an intuitive graphical menu and integrated call record.  Dispatchers can select from a series of pre-programmed messages and deliver them to individual DMR radios.  A detailed call log records each transmission with a time stamp and a graphical result of its completion.  Subscriber replies, both pre-programmed and free form, are also clearly displayed in the Sort Able window and electronically logged for later review.

Catalyst president Robin Grier notes, “As more public safety and other critical communications agencies comply with the FCC’s narrow banding requirements, the implementation of Digital Mobile Radio accelerates.  These agencies are able to cost-effectively upgrade their dispatch consoles as part of the narrow banding project, reduce training costs, and add powerful new capabilities like integrated text messaging.”

Catalyst’s Propulsion Console is immediately available with a full complement of accessories for order from Catalyst or your local Catalyst dealer.
