Catalyst Demonstrates New Dispatch and Interoperability Capabilities

August 7, 2011, – APCO, Philadelphia, PA – Catalyst Communications Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of Radio Control over IP solutions to the Push-to-Talk marketplace, demonstrated a new set of capabilities for Situational Awareness.  An expanded Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) interface provides direct access to a variety of devices from other manufacturers using standard, open protocols.  In its booth at the APCO International 77 Annual Conference and Expo, Catalyst showed its enhanced SIP interface with the Alcatel-Lucent My TeamworkTM solution.

Catalyst also demonstrated a new graphical control and monitoring option for its Land Mobile Radio (LMR) voice dispatch console along with its new Smart ButtonsTM feature.  The Catalyst demonstration included Project 25 and other radios from multiple manufacturers, enhancements to its intelligent control of Verizon Wireless Push-To-Talk, and the ability to patch remote LMR channels via a commercial broadband wireless link.

Company president Robin Grier noted, “This latest version of Catalyst’s dispatch and interoperability suite, release 5.92, allows first responders and other critical communications users to better and more quickly understand the events that are unfolding around them.”  Using the open SIP standard, Catalyst consoles and LMR field radios can be linked to telephones and to collaboration tools like Alcatel-Lucent’s My Teamwork.  Catalyst has simplified the presentation and control of the collaboration interface, integrating it with its industry leading Graphical User Interface for LMR dispatch to reduce training time and make these capabilities more accessible to dispatchers and field personnel with two-way radios.

Situational Awareness is further enhanced with Catalyst’s innovative display and control of remote devices using available Auxiliary Input/output (Aux IO) circuitry on each Gateway.  During its APCO demonstration, Catalyst showed how dispatchers could be alerted when a smoke detector triggers, a fire alarm is activated, or doors in secure areas are opened.  Modern graphics communicate intuitive messages and allow the dispatcher to activate remote devices to alert others.  These notifications and controls are further enhanced with Catalyst’s exclusive Smart Button technology.  Custom, multi-step actions can be built into a single button on the Catalyst IP|ConsoleTMto speed response, reduce errors, and accelerate training.  Each Gateway can be optionally equipped with up to eight Aux I/O inputs and outputs.

Catalyst demonstrated intelligent interfaces to mobile radio transceivers from a variety of manufacturers in support of multiple over-the-air protocols including the Project 25 Common Air Interface, EDACS, MDC-1200, and Verizon Wireless Push-To-Talk.  Catalyst showed portable, packaged intelligent Gateways – one for P25 with features such as Unit ID and Emergency and one for MDC-1200 with Unit ID/Alias and the capability to support hundreds of channels.  All Gateways were linked across a shared Internet Protocol network and used Catalyst’s exclusive Radio Control over IP technology to provide robust control and mission critical audio.  With the Verizon Wireless Push-To-Talk service, Catalyst demonstrated enhanced management features for adding new subscribers on the fly.

Catalyst’s IP|Console and IntelliLink™ products with Release 5.92 including the enhanced SIP interface, graphical monitoring and control of remote devices, and Smart Buttons are available for order from the company.
