Advanced Capabilities

Sum Audio from Multiple Gateways: As an alternative to scanning Gateways, the Windows 2000/XP Remote user can choose to have audio from multiple Gateways summed and simultaneously delivered through the speaker. The user may limit the number of simultaneous calls and prioritize the Locations using the Local Settings window shown below. The selected Gateway audio will be heard through the left speaker and the summed audio of all unselected locations will be heard through the right speaker.

Record and Playback Calls: The Record and playback capability provides information about the recorded call, including the stored filename of the recorded message and a box to click to playback the transmission.

Scan Between Radio Gateways: IP|Connect allows the remote PC user to scan the audio of multiple Radio Gateways. Each remote PC can set its own unique priority for monitoring the audio of different talk groups, channels, and geographic locations.

View Activity of Multiple Groups:
The Global View window in IP|Connect presents the current status of multiple Radio Gateways. View the group or channel that each gateway is monitoring. Get real-time call indications from multiple Radio Gateways.

Supervisor Controls: The system administrator can designate which PC users are “Supervisory Users” and which are “Standard Users.” In addition to adding users to the database Supervisors can also delete ID’s.

Sort User Directory: PC users may sort the directory of radios by first name, last name, alias, LID, department, or default system. Sorting allows PC users to quickly identify a radio for an individual call.

Sort Call History:
The Call History window may be sorted by caller (radio or PC), callee (group, channel or individual radio), time, date, and type of call. Sort this display by type to determine which radio declared an emergency. Sort by caller to see the calls made by a single radio.

Quick Reply: Quickly call a radio by right clicking his entry in the Call History window. This powerful tool allows PC users to identify and contact a recent radio user.

Catalyst Introduced Console, Presented Technical Track at IWCE

Thursday, February 28

Catalyst once again introduced a ground-breaking innovation at IWCE. Robin Grier, the President of Catalyst, was joined by Major Steven Williams of the Florida Highway Patrol to discuss “Disaster Recovery, Pushing the Envelope with Wireless IP.”

The Florida Highway Patrol has created a Mobile Command Vehicle that provides the full functionality of a primary dispatch center with three independent methods of network connectivity to other locations – a first. FHP officers can drive the vehicle to any location – inside or outside the state -- and begin dispatching in minutes if a hurricane, fire, or other disaster disrupts or even completely eliminates the local facility. Discover how the Florida Highway Patrol provides a flexible response to evolving communications needs across the state, allowing first responders to link any of 500 talk groups and conventional channels for federal, state, and local agencies in virtually any combination, instantly. Management issues including operational and contingency plans will be discussed.
