Backup Dispatch & Wide Area Services

Independent Dispatch Console Hardware and Software: Catalyst's VoIP dispatch solutions use different hardware and software than most full-featured consoles. A hardware or software problem with your regular console is unlikely to also cause a problem with the Catalyst solution. This use of alternative technology provides true backup.

Independent Multi-Site Hardware and Software: Catalyst's IP Link provides an alternative tool for routing audio between transmitter sites. A hardware or software problem with your regular multi-site switch is unlikely to also cause a problem with the Catalyst solution.

Alternate Routing for Voice Messages: Voice messages in the Catalyst system take a different route than do voice messages in most other radio systems. Catalyst products use the computer network to route voice messages, not traditional telephone lines or other dedicated circuits. If one of these traditional circuits fails, VoIP offers another path to send your voice messages.

Communications Through Alternative Radio Systems: Network Access Radio™ and IP Tone™ support a variety of radios. A local SMR or utility might serve as a backup for your dispatch radio system. By interfacing one of the SMR or utility’s radios to a NAR server, Remote PC users can gain access to that other system and a channel or talk group on that system can be attatched to your system with IP Link™.

Rapid, Modular Deployment: Catalyst products can be deployed in a matter of hours. The applications software for the Remotes can be emailed to distant users or provided via a shared drive. New users can be quickly brought on line to more rapidly serve your customers. A laptop computer can run the server application as a stop-gap measure. Each Remote and each Gateway can be uniquely configured, allowing the systems administrator to customize access.

Simulcast Systems: Provide an alternate link to simulcast radio sites using the Catalyst solution and your computer network.

Catalyst Introduced Console, Presented Technical Track at IWCE

Thursday, February 28

Catalyst once again introduced a ground-breaking innovation at IWCE. Robin Grier, the President of Catalyst, was joined by Major Steven Williams of the Florida Highway Patrol to discuss “Disaster Recovery, Pushing the Envelope with Wireless IP.”

The Florida Highway Patrol has created a Mobile Command Vehicle that provides the full functionality of a primary dispatch center with three independent methods of network connectivity to other locations – a first. FHP officers can drive the vehicle to any location – inside or outside the state -- and begin dispatching in minutes if a hurricane, fire, or other disaster disrupts or even completely eliminates the local facility. Discover how the Florida Highway Patrol provides a flexible response to evolving communications needs across the state, allowing first responders to link any of 500 talk groups and conventional channels for federal, state, and local agencies in virtually any combination, instantly. Management issues including operational and contingency plans will be discussed.
