Catalyst's IP 25D implements an all digital version of the P25 infrastructure model in advance of the emerging standard. Click here to learn more about IP 25D.
Project 25 is a series of standards being developed by the TIA TR-8 Committee, which is made up of customer representatives from federal state, and local public safety organizations. The Project 25 standards are developed under the guidance of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) whose standard formulating committees include manufacturer representatives. TIA standards are developed used open procedures that are required by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The benefits of the Project 25 standard could be!
- To obtain maximum spectrum efficiency
- To purchase radios and other equipment from more than one vendor
- To allow effective inter-agency communications
- To migrate systems without replacing all of your equipment
While all standards setting activites are continuing, the Common Air Interface is complete. Three standards that are important to Catalyst and our customers are not complete:
- The Console Interface
- The Fixed Station Interface
- The Inter-RF SubSystem Interface (ISSI)
Catalyst is committed to complying with these standards once they are approved, currently scheduled for 2006 and 2007. In the meantime, Catalyst was awarded a Small Business Inovation Research (SBIR) Award from the US Government to develop a P25 interface from a Catalyst Gateway to a P25 radio that could become a template for a standard for mobile radios, as a wireline interface to a mobile radio is not included in the current standards setting efforts. This project is titled "Project 25 Mobile Radio Migration Platform for Homeland Security and Fire Management". The output of our SBIR award will address the same goals as the statement of requirements and user needs identified in the standards process.

In addition to our Project 25 development efforts, Catalyst supports the efforts of Project 25 through our membership in the Project 25 Interest Group (PTIG). To learn more about the PTIG, click here.

Newsflash |
Catalyst Introduced Console, Presented Technical Track at IWCEThursday, February 28Catalyst once again introduced a ground-breaking innovation at IWCE. Robin Grier, the President of Catalyst, was joined by Major Steven Williams of the Florida Highway Patrol to discuss “Disaster Recovery, Pushing the Envelope with Wireless IP.” The Florida Highway Patrol has created a Mobile Command Vehicle that provides the full functionality of a primary dispatch center with three independent methods of network connectivity to other locations – a first. FHP officers can drive the vehicle to any location – inside or outside the state -- and begin dispatching in minutes if a hurricane, fire, or other disaster disrupts or even completely eliminates the local facility. Discover how the Florida Highway Patrol provides a flexible response to evolving communications needs across the state, allowing first responders to link any of 500 talk groups and conventional channels for federal, state, and local agencies in virtually any combination, instantly. Management issues including operational and contingency plans will be discussed.
