Propulsion is a modern dispatch system for Tier II Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) and other radio systems designed to meet the stringent reliability requirements of Public Safety, Utility, Education, and Transportation dispatch applications. Propulsion provides an advanced interface to Harris’ and Hytera's DMR compliant mobile radios as well as Kenwood’s NEXEDGE and FleetSync mobile radios, conventional, and Verizon Wireless’ integrated Push-To-Talk service. The Propulsion solution can include intelligent interoperability between these systems as well as with Project 25 (P25) systems via a control station and can provide more limited support for SMARTNET, EDACS, and other PTT solutions. Propulsion uses Catalyst’s industry leading Radio Control over IP (RCoIP) technology to extend the reach of your dispatch and interoperability solution while reducing the cost to connectivity.
Configurable User Interface
Propulsion incorporates modern graphics into a fully customizable user interface to improve dispatcher efficiency and minimize operator errors. The system administrator assigns a Catalyst-provided layout or creates a custom console configuration—what the dispatcher sees and what functions are available on the console—on a by-user basis. Configurations are stored on the console and/or in the central Administrative Server database and accessed by each dispatcher as required.
Key features include optional interoperability with Project 25 radios, Unit ID with a centralized Alias Database, Emergency, a full featured call recording and playback module, and telephone interconnect. SIP-based telephony or POTS lines can optionally be patched to radios using the Propulsion console.

The Propulsion solution is available in a variety of packages designed for small to medium-sized public safety, utility, education and transportation agencies. Packages support four, eight, twelve or twenty-four Radio Interfaces with up to twelve dispatch positions. The robust distributed IP based client-server architecture eliminates the need for a central switch so that no single point of failure exists. At the heart of the system is Catalyst’s advanced RCoIP gateway technology which performs a host of functions to meet the extreme information and reliability requirements for critical communications. Examples are the ability to decode and display critical messages such as unit ID and Emergency as well as the ability to intelligently manage audio to ensure transmission occurs as soon as possible but without lost audio. Catalyst Gateways may be mixed and matched in any combination of RF and telephony interfaces to meet the requirements of centers that dispatch using multiple radio systems.
