The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a communications protocol for signaling and controlling multimedia communication sessions. The most common applications of SIP are in Internet telephony for voice and video calls, as well as instant messaging, over Internet Protocol (IP) networks.
Catalyst offers a SIP Gateway that is compatible with our dispatch and interoperability solutions. The SIP Gateway allows voice and associated information to be integrated into Catalyst dispatch consoles so that dispatchers can initiate and receive voice traffic and patch that traffic to mobile radios. Similarly the SIP Gateway can be used in an interoperability only application to connect mobile radios with telephony and other SIP-based systems.
