Public Safety

Technology from Catalyst will play a leading role in FirstNet™ deployments, and at APCO 2017 one of the technical showcases was the Catalyst demonstration of LTE (cellular mobile phone) to LMR (public safety Land Mobile Radio) communications.

This demonstration was important for FirstNet, because both the cellular network (cell phone to Verizon cellular network) and the Wide Area Network connecting the cellular network to Catalyst Gateways (that were then connected to mobile radios) can someday all be on the FirstNet™ Network. In that application, FirstNet™ serves as a backhaul network and can be used to extend LMR coverage to locations that don’t have good radio coverage but do have good cellular coverage. Also, since LTE cellular and LMR portable radios can exist on the same network, FirstNet™ users can gracefully migrate to FirstNet™ without a onetime changeout.

For current First Responders, our technology is purpose built for public safety applications.

Primary Dispatch: Catalyst currently supports Dispatch operations with more than 60 consoles and 50 radio sites, to single console single radio installations. Catalyst systems can meet your needs with a flexible full-featured solution. Learn more about our P25 focused IP|Console product, as well as Propulsion, the choice for DMR. All catalyst consoles support P25, DMR and a rich interface to leading donor mobile radios, providing an advanced user interface to many sophisticated radio features.

Incident Command: ICE™, our Incident Command Element with Harris Unity™ radios, and FIRE™, our Field Interoperability/Repeater Element, with Kenwood, BK Technology, or other mobile radios, provide a unique combination of incident command services in a single solutions packaged. Transportable in a case, or mounted securely in a vehicle, Fire™ and ICE™ package multiple radios, radio control software, patching/ interoperability software, dispatch software, and recorded audio and playback capabilities. Take control of on-scene radio communications with FIRE™ and ICE™. Simultaneously monitor multiple frequency bands from a single controller, patch those channels together locally, and playback recent calls, all using a single laptop computer. Backup Dispatch: Backup Dispatch operations is a common application for Catalyst technology, due to our wide variety of interfaces to different radio systems and our ability to both control and dispatch to these different systems through a single user interface. Ambulance

Federal Agencies

Of particular importance to government agencies is that they are often required to purchase equipment that is open-standards compliant. Government agencies recognize that products that adhere to open standards typically offer higher levels of interoperability and customer choice than products based on proprietary protocols do.
Catalyst is a leader in the promotion of open standards and we are active members of both the P25 Technology Interest Group (PTIG) and the DMR Association (DMRA). We develop products including Project 25 (P25) CSSI and DFSI open standard interface, an, for DMR, the AIS open standard interface.

Land Management Voice Dispatch: Catalyst technology is especially appropriate for government agencies responsible for large geographic areas. Education Solutions

College Campuses and other large education facilities require a unique blend of radio communications capabilities that are well served by Catalyst technology. Campus radio communications are unique because dispatch is required by both administration (think dorm housekeeping) and Security / Law Enforcement. Catalyst’s radio dispatch, paging and remote-monitoring systems can be used to centralize and simplify the management of campus.
